One glance at my Instagram account will show you how fascinated I am with spring in Japan and how much I admire the blooms adorning the landscape, especially the cherry blossoms. Now that the last month of May is coming to an end I wanted to share my favorite photos all taken at Shinjuku Garden. I like to think of it as the Central Park of Tokyo – vast, lush and full of character. During this cherry blossom season I returned here four times, each week having my breath taken away. Seeing yaezakura (the later type of sakura with dozens of petals and vibrant pink color) in particular never fails to make my heart pitter-patter.

Those blossoms are just THE most beautiful sight!
Aren’t they stunning?! :)
When is the best time to plan a trip to try to see them? Sooo stunning. Thanks for sharing with #FarawayFiles, Erin
Erin, it’s hard to predict, but first/second week of April would be your best bet. :)
Amazing photos!!! You look stunning as well!
Isabel, thank you so much! :)
your photos are so gorgeous! Japan in spring is amazing, I was there back in December and now I want to go back!
#farawayfiles
Natalie, I hope you make it back during spring. It is something special!
Loving your blossomy instagram posts, keep them going!! As you might see from my account too I also am rather enamoured with spring flowers :) Looks fantastic in Japan however, and in front of that scenery!
I’d love to check out your posts! Thank you for reading :)
Just gorgeous!! You always photograph flowers so well, they are indeed picture perfect! :)
Your blog posts should be prescribed to people who need cheering up, Nano. I feel brighter and happier for having seen these wonderful photos. I particularly love the ones with the elderly Japanese couples in front of the beautiful blossoms. Thanks so much for cheering me up on #FarawayFiles
Clare, now you made my day with this sweetest comment. Thank you for being so supportive and encouraging, always. xx
I wish I could be there right now! Tromso is slowly starting to bloom but it still snowed until like 2 weeks ago so it’s not a spring wonderland like Japan just yet…
Oh no, I hope it will get warmer soon. Thank you for reading Vanessa!
Awwww, I’ve been to Japan twice, but never in spring!! :'( Some day I’ll have to come back and see those amazing blossoms!!
Jane, hope you make it back in spring and get to enjoy the blooms! π
I thought it was Central Park at first! You’ve captured its essence beautifully, Nano. And I love your outfits here! You’re always so stylish and put together.
Thanks Jaime!! xx
Wow! Looks so beautiful :)
I love the picture with the two women sitting under the blossoms <3
Aren’t they cute?! It is my favorite photo of the season! :)
These are so beautiful – I can really understand why the cherry blossom season is such a big thing… and I’m sure I would have taken at least as many photos, really gorgeous. Thanks for linking up with #citytripping
I was the same way, never understood why cherry blossom season was such a huge deal. Now I know :)
Your instagram feed and photos are amazing Nano. I could stare at those blossoms all day! Thanks for joining #FarawayFiles
Thank you Katy! :)
So beautiful! I just love the contrast between the city and the gardens! #farawayfiles
Wonderful shots! Although I saw most of the photo on your Instagram’s gallery already, I am still awed by your skill :) Great job, Nano!
Oh absolutely gorgeous!! Yes, I remember seeing lots of your photos of sakura in Instagram :-) The gardens indeed look like Central Park of NY, and how amazing it is to have a picnic under a cherry blossom tree. Breathtaking and beautiful! #citytripping
